Live streaming seems to be one of the hot new functions of any app that hasto do with video posts, and it's a feature that you would have expected YouTube to probably have already in its mobile app. On the contrary, the YouTube mobile app does not yet have a live streaming feature. They are preparing for one though, and YouTube's plans to enter the live streaming market were revealed on the Creator Blog back on June 23rd, stating that they would be adding the functionality into the mobile app in the near future. Now, with the most recent update to YouTube, it still doesn't appear that live streaming is available, but it looks like YouTube is prepping for its arrival.
A teardown of the APK has unearthed a new image with the words“Go Live,”which is presumably what users will see on the button they can tap to initiate that action when they want to live stream something and share it with the world.
NOTE
YouTube hasn't been forthcoming with a launch date for the live stream feature yet, but this could indicate that it's right around the corner.
In addition to the couple of strings about YouTube's Go Live feature, YouTube has made just a couple of tweaks to parts of the user interface. You can now see that the button on the account page for uploading video's transitions into a camera icon and then opens up a new screen with a dark background on it with a button you'll need to tap to “allow access.” This isn't necessarily a new UI change, as some users have already seen it, but it seems to be hitting more devices now. The YouTube Red section on the My Account page has also been switched up and now reads “My YouTube Red,” and tapping on this part of the page will take you to a new page that lists off what you get with YouTube Red if you subscribe to the service. While live streaming may not be here yet, perhaps it won't be too far off now that there is data for it appearing in the app. If you want to grab the latest version of the YouTube Mobile app which should bring you up to version 11.25, you can pick up the APK from the button below.
