I Don’t Know What Happened to My Players – Siasia

The Arena Corinthians was at its bustling best when
the Nigeria U-23 Olympic team took on their German
counterparts in the semifinal of the Rio 2016 Olympics
football event.
Already, news had gone round that hosts, Brazil had
beaten Honduras 6-0 in the first semifinal and
Brazilians who are yet to forgive Germany over the 7-1
loss their national team suffered in the hands of the
Germans in the World Cup turned out in their
thousands in support of the Nigerian team.
Coach Samson Siasia was miffed after the match as he
slammed his players for some of the unpardonable
mistakes they made during the match.
“I don’t really know what happened to my players
today (Wednesday). The had begging chances but
could not score.
“Too many mistakes, faulty passes and you don’t
pass the ball to your opponents and expect to win. In
a competition, if you don’t win you are sent home,”
Siasia said after the match.
H said focus will now be on the third place match.
“We are going to face it with all seriousness because
it is better to go home with a bronze than nothing at
all. We will go for it.”
