Panic as unknown gunmen abduct INEC secretary and son

Unknown gunmen on Thursday evening, November 3, abducted the administrative secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Barrister Muslim Olujide Omoleke, in Ekiti state.

According to Sahara Reporters, Omoleke was abducted by armed hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers on Ilesha/Akure expressway.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of INEC in Ekiti state, Taiwo Gbadegesi, confirming the news disclosed that Omoleke was kidnapped by the hoodlums at about 4: 00 pm at a local village close Ilesa in Osun state.

He was said to have been driven away in his car into the forest together with his son and driver.

A source at INEC disclosed that the abductors later released Omoleke’s son and the driver along with the car.

Gbadegesin said the administrative secretary was returning to Ekiti State from official visits to Ondo and Osun states when he was abducted.

Family sources confirmed that the hoodlums are yet to contact them to commence discussions that would lead to his release.

Polices sources have said that the Nigeria Police Force in Ekiti, Ondo and Osun states have already launched a manhunt for the kidnappers in order to rescue Omoleke.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate has threatened to boycott plenary session if the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government refuses to conduct rerun elections in Rivers and Anambra states,

Premium Times reports that this threat was issued following a motion moved by the deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu on Wednesday, October 2 calling for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct election in the states.
