Lagos police, traditional rulers, others inaugurate personality forum

Over the weekend, the
Lagos state police as well as traditional rulers had
a meeting and it was agreed that, the
communication gap between the law and youths
must be reduced, traditional rulers and influential
members of the society should be proactive in
security matters or be ready to be held
accountable, and any police officer that asks for
financial gratification before performing his or her
duty should be reported.
These were some of the conclusions reached at
the inauguration of Eminent Personality Forum,
Orile Division, last Saturday.
The forum comprise traditional rulers, religious
leaders, lawyers, politicians, businessmen and
women, youths and other influential personalities
of Apapa-Iganmu and Coker-Aguda LCDAs, Lagos
State.
At the event, Chief Superintendent of Police
Angela Akaro, the District Police Officer, DPO, Orile
Division, Area ‘C’ Command, charged the members
to “organise and re-orientate your youths so we
can interact with them.
“Majority of them do what they do because of the
communication gap between them and the law.
Once we bridge the gap, we can interact and
reform many. “The interaction we have in mind
includes bringing professionals from different
fields to come and discuss with them. With your
cooperation, we can also help with vocational
training.”
