Ondo Election: Mimiko Accuses Presidency of Stopping Jegede

Olusegun Mimiko
The Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has
alleged that there are some cabals in the Presidency
who want to stop the factional governorship candidate
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr.
Eyitayo Jegede from contesting the November 26,
governorship election in the state.
Mimiko stated this in Akure, the state capital yesterday
at a programme in honour of the founder of the O'odua
Peoples Congress, Dr. Frederick Faseun.
The governor who said he know that President
Mohummadu Buhari was not part of the injustice, noted
that, “I am now a part-time resident of Abuja these days
to ensure my people get justice and I know the injustice
will not stand”.
Leadership recalled that Jegede’s name was removed
from the list of contestants of the forthcoming
governorship election in the state by the Independent
National Electoral Commission and replaced it with
Jimoh Ibrahim’s name from the Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction
of the party on the order of an Abuja High Court.
Both Makarfi’s faction of the party and the candidate,
Jegede had filed an appeal at the appellate court to
challenge the order of the high court.
Mimiko, who was the chairman of the occasion said,
some people in the Presidency allegedly wanted to stop
Jegede from contesting the election by all means.
Meanwhile, the Ahmed Makarfi led factional chairman of
the PDP in the state, Mr. Clement Faboyede has also
assured members of the party across the state that
Jegede would get justice from the court of appeal in
Abuja.
